Stronghold Games has announced Dulce, a game about competitive confectionaries, set to release on September 7.

In Dulce, players compete to create the perfect desserts from farm to table.  First, players strategically plant beans such as cacao, vanilla, and peanuts on their personal player board, then harvest them for use in their factories to create tasty sweets.

The cards in the game are multi-purpose, depicting beans on one side and a factory on the other.  Each player has an identical deck, and they all draw the same card during each round of play, reducing the whims of chance.  After the matching cards are found, players simultaneously choose how to use their card for planting, harvesting, or building a new factory.  Points are awarded for successfully gathering the beans required to create sweets, with victory going to the player with the most points after 20 rounds of play.

Dulce was created by Julio E. Nazario (Holi:  Festival of Colors, Ctrl).  It is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $39.99.

Stronghold recently offered TaZmania, an expansion for AuZtralia (see “Stronghold Games Will Release a New Expansion for Martin Wallace’s ‘AuZtralia’”).
