ComicBooks for Troops, which provides free comics to the U.S. military through its partner organizations, has announced its first event will take place on Veterans Day, November 11. The event is a followup to ComicBooks for Kids Day, which sister organization ComicBooks for Kids held earlier this year (see “
ComicBooks for Kids Launches UK Arm”).“Many of you used CB4K Day to bring people onto your website or into your store and from what we understand, it did make a difference,” wrote ComicBooks for Troops Founder and President Mark Weiss in an e-mail inviting retailers to participate.“For brick and mortar stores, this might generate some early November revenue ahead of the post Thanksgiving sales.”
Weiss suggested that artists could participate by selling sketches to raise money. He also asked that brick-and-mortar retailers let him know if they are interested in getting a retailer kit, with posters and a tin for donations, for the next ComicBooks for Kids Day, scheduled for February 2023.
According the ComicBooks for Troops website, the organization donated over 125,000 comics to members of the military in the last 12 months.
