Scholastic will publish the first volume of Rex Ogle’s new middle-grade memoir series Four Eyes under its Graphix imprint in May 2023. Art will be by Dave Valeza. Ogle wrote Free Lunch, which won the YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults, and in addition to his writing (which began at DC, see, for example, “DC Unveils ‘Flashpoint’”) has edited a number of successful kids series, including the LEGO graphic novels for Little, Brown (see “Lego License to Little, Brown”).

Like Free Lunch, Four Eyes tells the story of Ogle’s life in sixth grade in Texas; in this story he discovers he needs glasses but ends up with an ugly pair, which compound his other struggles with friendship and a family that just doesn’t get it.

Four Eyes is for ages 8-12; the 224-page paperback will retail for $12.99.

Ogle is also the new Head of Editorial for Mad Cave’s Papercutz imprint (see “Mad Cave Studios Acquires Papercutz”).
