The Phantom Stranger was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino andfirst appeared in an anthology series of the same name that debuted in 1952. After that, he disappeared for a while and then resurfaced in 1969 with an appearance in Showcase #80 followed by a new series that ran from 1969 to 1976. The omnibus includes these stories as well as the Phantom Stranger’s appearances in a number of other DC titles. What seems to be missing, however, is the newer Phantom Stranger series that was launched as part of the 2012 expansion of the New 52 (see “DC Goes to ‘Zero’ Issues in September”).
