Horror writer Cullen Bunn will curate a new horror imprint, Outer Shadows, for Outland Entertainment that will include comics, novels, games, and other media. First on the list is Swords in the Shadows, an anthology of horror-themed sword and sorcery prose by Joe R. Lansdale (Red Range), Stephen Graham Jones (Earthdivers) and others.

“For our first publication, I wanted to showcase the broad scope of what a horror tale can be,” Bunn said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Sword and sorcery has always been near and dear to me, and some of my favorite stories in the genre feature significant horror elements. I wanted to bring that to the forefront. So, this is an S&S&H anthology—sword and sorcery and horror. It’s a book that I think will have significant crossover appeal.”

Other upcoming titles include Bunn’s horror/fantasy novella Raze: Mother, Maiden, Crone; I’ll Kill You Last, an anthology of horror stories inspired by the action movies of the 1980s; a new edition of Bunn’s middle-grade horror novel Crooked Hills, plus a sequel; a complete collection of his short stories; and a book of stories from Whispers from the Shattered Forum, a small press magazine that Bunn once edited.

Bunn is also the architect of the new shared multiverse that Outland launched in 2022 (see “Outland Entertainment”) that is based on comics created by Barry Blair in the 1980s and 1990s and published by Aircel Publishing.
