Mirka Andolfo, whose Sweet Paprika won a Harvey Award last year, will co-write a new Bettie Page series that will take the iconic pinup star to Rome, where she is promptly mistaken for someone else and kidnapped. "Our goal is to tell an intense story with an intense character and an intense but realistic setting," Andolfo said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Andolfo will co-write the series with Luca Blengino; Elisa Ferrari is the artist for the project. The series, simply titled Bettie Page, will launch in June from Dynamite Entertainment, and the first issue will have covers by Joseph Michael Linsner, Junggeun Yoon, Rebeca Puebla, and Lesley "Leirix" Li, as well as one by Andolfo that depicts Page on a Vespa.
Image Comics is publishing a new Sweet Paprika one-shot in April (see “Preview: ‘Sweet Paprika: Black, White & Pink’ (One-Shot) Covers”).
