Marvel Comics has released info and teaser art for a new project, G.O.D.S., by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Valerio Schiti, that will re-imagine the Marvel pantheon of gods. The story starts with a meeting between Doctor Strange and Wyn, a member of the ancient hierarchy that includes Eternity, Infinity, and the Living Tribunal, that leads into a story that delves into the fundamental building blocks of the Marvel Universe. The series will launch in Fall 2023 and will be previewed in Marvel’s FCBD comic Free Comic Book Day: Avengers/X-Men #1 (see “Marvel FCBD 2023 Comics Lead In to Summer Events”).
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Hickman said that he wrote two story bibles when he first returned to Marvel, for House of X and G.O.D.S. “G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe—in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic—and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience,” he said.
