Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman has posted a video on Tumblr with updates about the series. Oseman said that the fifth volume of the best-selling series will be published on November 9, 2023, in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. A Scholastic representative told ICv2 that Graphix will publish the U.S. edition on December 12, 2023.

Oseman also said that Volume 6 would be the final volume of the series, although she had originally planned it to end with Volume 5.

Oseman, who is also writing the Heartstoppers Netflix series, took a break from the comic in May 2022 and resumed posting new episodes on April 1, 2023 (see “Alice Oseman to Resume ‘Heartstopper’ Webtoon”). When she went back to it, she said, she realized that the end of the story, which follows the romance of two teen boys, Nick and Charlie, would work better if she split it across two volumes. “I can take my time with the end of the story, make sure all of the characters get their final moment to shine, and properly explore how Nick and Charlie’s relationship progresses in their final years of school,” she said.

Heartstopper, which is published in the U.S. by Graphix, has been a consistent best-seller (see “Top Kids Graphic Novel Franchises – Fall 2022”). Volume 4 was released in January 2022.
