Czech Games Edition has announced Kutna Hora: The City of Silver, a Euro-style game about building a medieval Czech city and cathedral. The game will premiere at the Spiel fair in Essen, Germany, in October before releasing into the trade.
In Kutna Hora, players become the leaders of the guilds in the Bohemian city of the same name, located to the east of Prague and a designated UNESCO site, following the discovery of rich silver veins nearby. They must oversee the mining of silver and use the proceeds to build the city and expand the influence of their guild, as well as contribute to the construction of St. Barbara’s Cathedral. The game system is designed to reflect the impact of supply and demand for silver and other resources on the game’s economy. It also features asymmetrical design elements, with each guild enjoying unique advantages.
The game was created by Ondrej Bystron, Petr Caslava, and Pavel Jarosch. It comes with 1 main board, 1 building board, 4 dual-layer player boards, 2 market stands, tiles for the cathedral and buildings, tiles for the mines, tokens, coins, and cards. Kutna Hora is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 13 and up, and games take about half an hour per player. MSRP will be $59.95.
Last month, CGE announced a new expansion for Lost Ruins of Arnak (see "Czech Games Edition Announces ‘Lost Ruins of Arnak’ Expansion").
