Dire Wolf Digital presented Wild Tiled West at the recent GAMA Expo.  The game was created by Paul Dennen, the designer behind Clank!  and Dune:  Imperium.  ICv2 met up with Dire Wolf’s Tabletop Production Manager Evan Lorentz for details about the upcoming summer release.

Wild Tiled West is a tile-drafting dice game set in an Old West populated by anthropomorphic animals.  Each player is trying to acquire tiles to create patterns on their personal player board to score points.  In each round, a roll of the dice determines which tiles are available to draft that round.  Points are awarded for avoiding bandits and chasing them off with straight-shooting sheriffs, wrangling cattle, and building towns.  In addition, each player has a “partner card” that gives them an individual goal for the game, and additional partners can be earned during play.

The game is intended for 1 to 5 players, ages 13 and up, and takes about 20 minutes per player.  It comes with 8 double-sided player boards, 5 mining tracks, 4 tile trays, 96 tiles, a scoreboard, 16 partner cards, 6 dice, 30 “gold” nuggets, 35 bullets, 15 cowpokes, 15 bandits, 25 alley tiles, 4 cattle contracts, 4 fancy saloon ace cards, and a 12-card deck for controlling solo play.  MSRP is $65.00.

Dire Wolf recently released an expansion for Dennen’s Dune:  Imperium game (see “The Bene Tleilax Enter ‘Dune:  Imperium’”).  Last year, the company expanded into the tabletop role playing genre with the acquisition of Fandom’s Cortex system (see “Dire Wolf Digital Acquires Fandom’s Tabletop RPG Business”).

Dennen’s Clank!  scored the number three slot on ICv2’s list of top-selling card and dice games for last fall (see “Top Hobby Channel Card/Dice Games – Fall 2022”).
