AWA will launch a six-issue psychological thriller series, The Madness, by Amazing Spider-Man writer and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. The artist for the project is Aco, whose credits include The Amazing Spider-Man and Wonder Woman. The standalone series follows Sarah Ross, a superpowered thief whose family is murdered by one of her victims, sending her on a quest for revenge against the “good” superheroes who were responsible. The first issue is slated for August 9, 2023.
The six-issue series will launch on August 9, and every issue will have a variant cover that pays homage to a punk rock band that inspired the look of the series. The covers were created by artist Chris Ferguson in collaboration with other AWA artists.
Straczynski is a member of the AWA Creative Council and the architect of the publisher’s shared universe, The Resistance (see “AWA to Publish Collection of Stories from ‘The Resistance”).
