Cephalofair Games announced Gloomhaven Buttons & Bugs, a new game with a solo play campaign, which is available on their Gloomhaven Grand Festival crowdfunding campaign as an add-on. This campaign (see "'Gloomhaven 2E'") has raised $2,863,633 from 12,515 backers with 14 days left to go (about $229 per backer).
Buttons & Bugs is compact Gloomhaven game that features minimalistic rules based on the Gloomholdin' card game. The game features a solo original campaign story written by Isaac Childres, which set after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles. Each scenario reduced to a single card where one mercenary battles enemies with simplified actions that are run by AI.
The mercenary has a hand of four double-sided cards that can be used once for each side. Combat involves rolling a die in conjunction with a modifier table. The mercenary ability cards can be improved as the player levels up during the campaign.
This game is for a single player and plays in 20 minutes. Thus far, there has been no word on MSRP or a retail release date.
