The first trade of BOOM! Studios’ series The Expanse: Dragon Tooth will go on sale in December, about the same time that backers of the Kickstarter campaign will get their copies.  The direct market edition will be a 112-page softcover, collecting issues #1-4, and will be released on December 13, 2023, with an MSRP of $17.99.

BOOM! has chosen to publish the 12-issue series, by writer Andy Diggle and artist Rubine, through the regular channels (see “BOOM! Bets Big on ‘The Expanse’”) and to fund hardcover and softcover collected editions, as well as other formats, on Kickstarter.  That campaign is the top comics project in Kickstarter so far this year, with total pledges of over $1.4 million (see “Kickstarter Comics Campaigns Are Up in the First Half of 2023”).

The Expanse is a prose novel series by Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, writing under the pen name James S.A. Corey, which was adapted into a television series that ran on SyFy for three seasons and then on Amazon Prime for three more.  The Expanse: Dragon’s Tooth is an original story that is set in the interval between the two novels The Expanse: Babylon’s Ashes and The Expanse: Persepolis Rising.
