Sit Down! Games will release Redwood, game about nature photography designed by Christophe Raimbault (Colt Express), on October 1.

In Redwood, the players are nature photographers trying to get the ultimate shot without disturbing the wildlife. Points are awarded for capturing plants and animals, which can move over the course of the game’s five rounds of play. Additional points are awarded by fulfilling the requirements of goal cards.

To take photos, the players use the game’s plastic templates to determine how their photographer moves and what angle lens they are going to use. The templates determine which plants and animals are photographed as well as what biome will serve as the background, and are designed to “snap” into the miniature’s base to simplify play and reduce accidental movement of pieces.

Redwood includes both “basic” and “expert” rules, as well as solo and cooperative variants. It comes with 1 game board, 8 photographer miniatures, 7 movement templates, 7 shot templates, 9 pawns, 177 tokens, 57 cards, a string, and a scorepad. The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in about 45 minutes. MSRP is $64.99. Features illustrations by Edu Valls (Bitoku, Block and Key)

Sit Down! Games raised funds for the production of Redwood through a Kickstarter campaign in October 2022 that raised € 272,668 (about $269,177) in pledges from 2,918 backers (an average of € 93.44 or $92.25 per backer).

Earlier this year, Sit Down! Games released the real-time silent cooperative game Gardeners (see “Quietly Arrange Plants in ‘Gardeners’”).
