Wizards of the Coast's D&D Beyond team revealed that an artist submitted artwork for D&D Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, an upcoming rulebook, that used AI in the creation process.
The artist in question had worked with WotC since 2014, and WotC claimed not to be aware that the artist started using AI in his commissioned pieces until recently. WotC had a discussion with the artist over the work submitted, and the artist will no longer use AI for Wizards' commissions for future books. They have also revised their artist guidelines to ban artists from using AI generation tools as part of the art creation process when developing D&D art.
D&D Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants will hit stores on August 15, 2023 (see "'Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants'").
