A new novel about the origin story of Doctor Strange is just one of a number of upcoming prose novels based on Marvel characters and comics.

Titan Books will publish Doctor Strange: Dimension War, by James Lovegrove, in March 2024.  Adapted from the original comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the novel will set out the origin story of Doctor Stephen Strange and introduce a number of characters, both allies and foes, that have become part of his story over the years.  The 320-page hardcover will have an MSRP of $26.99.

This news comes on the heels of last week’s announcement of three Marvel Crime novels to be published by Disney imprint Hyperion Avenue.  As reported in Publishers Weekly, the novels are "hard-edged" and aimed at adults.  None of the titles have been announced, but the creators and lead characters have:  Lisa Jewell will write a novel starring Jessica Jones; Southern noir writer S.A. Crosby will take on Luke Cage; and crime novelist and former comics exec Alex Segura will write a novel about Daredevil.  Segura’s Araña and Spider-Man 2099: Dark Tomorrow was published by Marvel Press in May 2023.

In June, Marvel Comics and Random House Worlds announced that they would team up to publish "What If…?" prose novels featuring Marvel characters in alternative scenarios (see “Random House Worlds, Marvel to Publish Prose ‘What If…?’ Novels”).
