Nate Powell, the artist of the National Book Award-winning March, has announced a new project, a graphic adaptation of James W. Loewen’s Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong. First published in 1995 and revised several times since then, Lies My Teacher Told Me is a critique of American history textbooks that points out examples of incorrect information, omissions, and bias. The book has sold over 2 million copies and won an American Book Award in 1996.
Lies My Teacher Told Me: A Graphic Adaptation will be published by The New Press, the publisher of the original book, on April 16, 2024, as a 256-page paperback with an MSRP of $27.99.
Abrams will publish another new Powell graphic novel, Fall Through, in February 2024 (see “Nate Powell Blends Punk Rock and Time Travel”).
