IDW Publishing and Abrams Books will publish new comics based on Mattel’s Monster High franchise, including middle-grade and YA novel series from Abrams and a 10-issue comic series from IDW.
IDW will launch Monster High: New Scaremester on Free Comic Book Day 2024 with a 32-page comic that will feature a new story plus a preview of the world of the new series. The comic is set in the world of the Monster High Alumni.
Abrams’ middle-grade series is titled Monster High School Spirits, and the first volume, A Fright to Remember, by Adriana Cuevas, will be released on October 31, 2024. The first YA novel, Once Bitten, Twice Dead, by Tiffany Schmidt, will be released in Spring 2024.
Monster High is a multimedia fashion doll franchise that centers on a high school for the children of famous monsters. The concept has been adapted into several prose series but only a handful of comics: In 2014, Little, Brown released two original graphic novels, Hopes and Screams and I Only Have Eye for You, and in 2017, Titan Comics published a Monster High comic for Free Comic Book Day (see “Silver FCBD Comics Announced”).
