Synapses Games will release Yokohama, a new version of the strategic board game designed by Hisashi Hayashi, into retail in August 2024.
Synapse's classic game about the trials of trade in Japan's Meiji era comes to back to market again. Players will assume the roles of merchants in the city of Yokohama in a time period where Japan is just beginning to come onto the international trade scene. They will navigate the streets and trading posts to obtain contracts with foreign ministers, acquire import goods, and establish their trade networks. The player that does this the most optimally will win the game.
This game was originally published back in 2016. The new version of Yokohama will include improved artwork and components. The new art is meant to create a more immersive experience for players. Yokohama is for two to four players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 90 minutes.
Synapses Games was acquired by Flat River Group back in 2022 (see "Acquires Luma Imports and Synapses Games").
