Gary Thompson, the former Director of the Naval Institute’s graphic novel imprint Dead Reckoning, has been hired as Editorial Director of the manga and book publisher Square Enix.
Thompson began working for the U.S. Naval Institute in 2014 and helmed Dead Reckoning from the time it launched in 2017 (see “ICv2 Interview: Gary Thompson on New Imprint”) until 2022. During that time, two of the imprint’s graphic novels were nominated for Eisner Awards: Ben Towle’s Four-Fisted Tales and the archival collection Atlas at War! (see “Dead Reckoning to Publish ‘Atlas at War’ World War II Comics”).
