Dark Horse has announced a new deluxe edition of Gou Tanabe’s manga adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s horror novella At the Mountains of Madness, which they originally published in 2019 as two paperback volumes (see “New Manga Climbs ‘At the Mountains of Madness’”). The deluxe edition will be a 7” x 10” hardcover collecting both volumes, printed on premium quality paper, with eight color illustrations, a tip-in title page with silver ink, silver gilding on the edges of the pages, and a sewn-in ribbon bookmark. Unlike Dark Horse’s deluxe volumes of Berserk, which have a simple cover design, At the Mountains of Madness will have wraparound cover art and soft touch lamination with spot gloss. The 632-page deluxe edition will be available in bookstores on June 26, 2024, and in comic shops on June 27, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Dark Horse recently released another Tanabe adaptation of a Lovecraft work, The Shadow Over Innsmouth (see “Gou Tanabe”). Another Tanabe adaptation, H. P. Lovecraft’s The Hound and Other Stories, was nominated for a 2018 Eisner Award.
