Evil Genius Games Inc. and Netflix announced that they have settled their legal dispute, revolving around the development of the Rebel Moon RPG, in a joint statement.
The lawsuit was originally filed by Evil Genius in September 2023 over Netflix allegedly declaring a material breach and terminating an agreement with Evil Genius to develop a Rebel Moon RPG after significant work had already been done on the project (see "'Rebel Moon'"). The joint statement announcing the settlement of the lawsuit goes as follows:
“The parties are pleased that they were able to amicably resolve this dispute. Netflix thanks Evil Genius for their hard work and professionalism.”
Evil Genius will no longer be releasing the Rebel Moon RPG. They will offer refunds to retailers who preordered the game, and more information about processing refunds will be coming in 7-10 days via a follow up e-mail.
