Titan Comics will release The Michael Moorcock Library: Elric: The Making of a Sorceror, written by Michael Moorcock with art by Walter Simonson, this summer, the company announced. The 208-page hardcover volume collects a story originally published by DC Comics in 2004 as a four-issue Prestige-format miniseries.
Moorcock’s story reveals the origin of Elric, as dream quests take him to the dragon caves of Imrryr and unknown realms, where he must battle with giants and make peace with the leaders of other worldly kingdoms, learning to use magic and his sentient sword Stormbringer. He must also fight off the evil intentions of his cousin Yyrkoon, rival for the throne of Melnibone.
Titan has been releasing Elric comics and graphic novels for a decade (see “Preview: ‘The Michael Moorcock Library Vol. 1: Elric of Melnibone’”), but this volume is written by Moorcock himself, with art by one of the masters of the form. The hardcover volume will street at $29.99 on July 16, 2024.
