Gemstone Publishing, the Geppi Family Enterprises company known for the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, is entering the original graphic novel market for the first time with a publishing program around the Kill Shakespeare property, the company announced. The program will include both a new volume and collections of previously released material.
The program kicks off with a Free Comic Book Day release promoting the new arc, Romeo vs. Juliet: A Kill Shakespeare Adventure (see "2024 FCBD Silver Sponsors").
In November, Gemstone will release the full original graphic novel, Romeo vs. Juliet: A Kill Shakespeare Adventure, by Anthony Del Col, with art by Stefan Tosheff, letters by Becca Carey, with a cover by Richard Isanove.
The previously released Kill Shakespeare material will be released in two new compendium editions, beginning with Kill Shakespeare 1st Folio, by Del Col and co-writer Conor McCreery, with artist Andy Belanger and colorist Ian Herring in September; followed by Kill Shakespeare 2nd Folio in Spring 2025.
The first Kill Shakespeare series launched from IDW Publishing in 2011, and immediately received a Harvey nomination (see "2011 Harvey Nominations"). Del Col has gone on to success with other properties, including The Death of Nancy Drew and I Escaped A Chinese Internment Camp, which received a 2022 Pulitzer Award for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary.
