Amazon will cut prices on thousands of books during the Amazon Book sale, a new six-day sales event, the company announced. For the sale, which will run May 15-20, prices will be cut on thousands of titles via new deals that have already begun to drop and will continue throughout the event. Prices will be cut up to 50% on print bestsellers and up to 80% on Kindle Books, Amazon announced. Kids graphic novels was one category that Amazon flagged as targeted for discounts during the sale.
Amazon’s Books on Deal pages, linked from the announcement, are already offering a number of graphic novels at large discounts, including some greater than 50% off. We spotted First Second’s The Adventure Zone Vol. 5 at $10.02 (MSRP of $19.99, 49.9% discount), DK’s Marvel Greatest Comics at $15.61 (MSRP $35.00, 55% discount), and Dark Horse’s Avatar the High Ground at $11.68 ($24.99 MSRP, 53% off).
The American Booksellers Association recently filed to intervene in the case against Amazon filed by the Federal Trade Commission and 17 state attorneys last fall (see “Booksellers File”).
