Two comics and pop culture sites have new editors, and Storm King has a new Marketing Director.
Esther Kim has taken the reins as Marketing Director at Storm King, the publisher run by horror filmmaker John Carpenter and his wife, producer Sandy King Carpenter (see “John Carpenter Developing TV Series Based on Graphic Novels”). Kim was Manager at the retailer Fantom Comics before moving to Image Comics, where she was a Sales Representative and Administrative Assistant. She moved to BOOM! Studios in 2018 as Marketing Coordinator and was promoted to Marketing Manager in 2021. In 2023 she became Marking Director at Humanoids (see “People on the Move”), and she began working at Storm King in April 2024.
The Comics Journal has two new editors, Chris Mautner and Sally Madden, as former editor Joe McCulloch has moved on to pursue his own projects. Mautner is a veteran journalist and an editor at the news site pennlive.com, and he has also written for numerous comics sites including CBR and Robot 6. Madden is an indie cartoonist whose work includes Gray Is Not a Color, a minicomic about her work at a medical museum.
At Popverse, staff writer Graeme McMillan has been promoted to editor. Prior to Popverse, McMillan was a freelance writer for The Hollywood Reporter, Wired, Kotaku, CBR, Newsarama, and other comics and pop culture sites, and he was a judge for the 2018 Eisner Awards.
