After 50 years in Marvel Comics, Magik, a.k.a. Ilyana Rasputina, will get her own solo ongoing series. The creative team for Magik will be Ashley Allen, writer of X-Men: Blood Hunt – Magik #1 (see “‘Blood Hunt’”), and artist Germán Peralta, whose resume includes Black Panther and Loki. The series will start with a hunt for an ancient demon lurking beneath the Alaskan ice, and as she and her allies deal with that threat, Magik will also have to come to grips with her own demonic persona, Darkchylde. The first issue will be published on January 8, 2025, with a cover by J. Scott Campbell and a foil variant by Dike Ruan.
Magik (as Illyana Rasputin, the younger sister of Colossus) was created by Len Wein and Dave Cockrum and first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 in May 1975 but was mainly a supporting character until Uncanny X-Men #160 (1982), when she aged up and developed her powers.
