The Fantastic Four #1 with White pages auctioned by Heritage today brought a record price for the title. The CGC 9.6 copy was the highest-grade copy ever auctioned by Heritage, with no known copies at higher grade (see “High Grade ‘FF’ #1 Leads HA Auction”). The previous record sale for this issue was a $1.5 million price for a GCG 9.2 copy with White pages in a Heritage auction in 2022 (see “’FF’ #1 Breaches Million Dollar Mark”).
The copy auctioned today brought $2.04 million with Buyer’s Premium, 36% higher than the previous record.
The price for a high grade copy of the first appearance of Spider-Man was more pedestrian, and a big come-down from the Covid high for the book. The CGC 9.0 Amazing Fantasy #15 Off-white to White pages Curator Pedigree copy auctioned today was gaveled at $540,000 with Buyer’s Premium, nearly $3 million less than the CGC 9.6 copy auctioned in 2021 at the height of the Covid-fueled collectible frenzy for $3.5 million, the highest price ever paid for a comic at auction.
