Darrington Press has revealed details for its upcoming campaign-centered tabletop role playing game Daggerheart, set to release next spring.

Originally announced last year (see “Three New Darrington Press Games in the Works”), Daggerheart is a fantasy-themed role playing game designed to support long-term campaign play.  The game combines card-based and dice-based mechanics to create a richly detailed system for character design and development while giving players input in the evolution of the campaign story.

Hope and Fear dice influence the action, with players gaining benefits from higher Hope rolls, and the gamemaster benefiting from higher Fear rolls.  The cards provide structure to character creation through a variety of card types, including cards for character ancestry, community, subclass, and domain.

The Daggerheart Core Set includes the game rulebook, weighing in at nearly 300 pages, and 279 illustrated cards in an organizing box equipped with a magnetic closure, as well as a downloadable PDF version of the game rules.  MSRP is $59.99.  A deluxe Limited Edition version will also be offered, expanding the Core Set with a GM screen, 9-piece dice set with a satin dice bag, 102 acrylic tokens, and a pad of character sheets with an MSRP of $149.99.

In November, Darrington Press will offer an expansion for the deck-building game Queen by Midnight (see “‘Queen by Midnight’ Standalone Expansion Heads to Retail”).
