For the third year in a row, ComicBooks For Kids (CB4K) has commissioned two covers for special editions of Superman #39 that will be given to children in hospitals and cancer centers. The covers were sponsored by the online retailer mycomicshop.com, the Pennsylvania comic shop Krav’n Comics and Graham Cracker Comics, and each retailer has been given a small allocation for collectors. CB4K does not sell the comics.

This year’s covers are by Chrissie Zullo and Jerry Ordway. Superman #39, by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, was originally published in 2018 and features Superman and the Justice League visiting children in a cancer center and leading them on a scavenger hunt.

"We continue to be honored and appreciative in having yet again this opportunity to connect DC to the kids we work with,” said CB4K Founder and President Mark Weiss in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Presenting iconic characters such as Superman and the Justice League to children in hospitals and cancer centers will certainly add smiles and help alleviate stress and anxiety.”

The 2024 covers were by Laura Braga and Shawn McManus (see “ComicBooks For Kids Announces 2024 Event”).

CB4K distributes comics to children in hospitals and cancer centers, and its sister organization ComicBooks For Troops sends comics to the military. For more information, visit the ComicBooksFor Kids website.
