Games industry veteran Amber Cook passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2024.
Cook was a key player within the games industry, mostly working behind-the-scenes on the branding and business development of dozens of games and projects. She is well-known for her work at Looney Labs, Asmodee Group, and Roll20. Cook was also admired for the roles she played in the re-launch of Free RPG Day, as a founding member of the American Tabletop Awards, as the fundraising co-chair for Rose Gauntlet Foundation, and in the rebranding of her partner Paul Alexander Butler's store Games and Stuff (see "The Merchant's Anvil").
She leaves behind a son, James. Paul Alexander Butler, Nicole Hoye, and Jayme Marie Boucher have organized a GoFundMe to help go towards his education, medical expenses, emergency funds, and daily necessities.
