Graphix has big plans for Dog Man and its creator, Dav Pilkey, in 2025, and they include a new, full-color edition of Pilkey’s first graphic novel, The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby. Originally published in black and white, the book was released in 2002 as a paperback and in 2014 as a hardcover. Like Dog Man, it is ostensibly the creation of George Beard and Harold Hutchins, two characters in Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series (see “New Titles from Raina Telgemeier and Dav Pilkey”). The new edition will be released in August 2025, but no other details are available.

The publisher also revealed the title of the next Dog Man book: Dog Man: Big Jim Believes. It will be released in Fall 2025. The latest title in the series, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, was published on December 4, 2024 (see “New ‘Dog Man’ Graphic Novel Tells Characters’ Origin Stories”).

With the upcoming Dog Man animated movie set to premiere on January 31, 2025 (see “‘Dog Man’ Trailer”), Graphix has an international publicity campaign planned that will include

  • An international tour, with Pilkey traveling throughout the U.S. as well as the UK and Ireland;
  • “Join the Hero Party” activities, giveaways, and displays for retailers;
  • A free minicomic, Supa Special Collector’s Comic, that will show how animators adapted the books for the big screen;
  • Distribution of 50,000 copies of Dog Man: Big Jim Begins to students via literacy programs;
  • International promotions by other publishers.
