Jay Stephens, creator of the surprise retro-horror hit Dwellings, will pen a Red Sonja/Mars Attacks miniseries for Dynamite. Fran Strukan, artist for the first Sonja/Mars crossover (see “‘Mars Attacks Red Sonja’”), will return to work with Stephens on the new series, Red Sonja Attacks Mars. The first issue will be released in March with covers by Joseph Michael Linsner, Jae Lee, and Greg Land, and each cardstock variant will come polybagged with an exclusive trading card featuring the cover art.

Dwellings, which combined horror with Harvey Comics-style art, was a breakout hit for Oni in 2023 (see “Oni Announces Two ‘Dwellings’ Covers to Be Allocated”). "Campy, horrifying, mid-century, and notorious does seem to be my vibe,” Stephens said in a statement accompanying the announcement. I’m always striving for that reimagined nostalgia… a sort of irreverent reverence for the things that haunted me as a kid."
