Ravensburger has announced Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons, the fifth game in the company’s horror-themed series, produced under a license from Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast. The new game will release this summer.
Like other games in the Horrified series, Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons challenges players to cooperatively overcome monsters and puzzles as they attempt to gather useful items, rescue citizens, and survive the monster attacks. The various monsters offer their own challenges and abilities.
This version of Horrified will feature four iconic monsters drawn from the history of Dungeons & Dragons, including the infamous Beholder, one of the creatures from the earliest days of the game. It will also integrate core elements of Dungeons & Dragons in new mechanics added to the Horrified system, including the use of a 20-sided die and fantasy storytelling elements for a narrative adventure.
Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons was designed by Peter Lee, whose design credits include the original Horrified, Lords of Waterdeep, and Tyrants of the Underdark. The game is intended for one to five players, ages 10 and up. MSRP is $29.99. It will be compatible with the previous Horrified games, allowing players to use the new material with the earlier titles.
The Horrified line was launched in 2019 with a Universal Classic Monsters theme (see “‘Jaws,’ Universal Monsters ‘Horrified,’ ‘King Me,’ ‘Impact’”). Last year, the company relased a Cthulhu-style version (see “Cthulhu Emerges in a ‘World of Monsters’”).
