VIZ Media has announced a number of new manga and books for Fall 2025, including an omnibus edition of Nana, a new Junji Ito story collection, and more.

Moan, by Junji Ito, is a new collection of short stories that bring horror into everyday life in his characteristic style.  The title story features a drainpipe that moans filling the house of a germophobe family with horror.  Flowers in the shape of eyeballs, a woman who offers to give away her blood, and more bring the ancient horrors into modern life.  Ito’s work sells well in both bookstores and comic shops, and his Uzumaki is back on the best-seller lists at the moment thanks to the recent anime.  The 272-page hardcover will go on sale on October 7, 2025, with an MSRP of $25.00.

Nana, by Ai Yazawa, has retained its popularity despite the fact that it has been on hiatus since 2009, and now VIZ is bringing it back in a 25th anniversary 2-in-1 omnibus edition with a larger trim size, gatefold flaps, and a new design.  The story of two young women named Nana who move to Tokyo, one looking for love and one looking for fame in the local punk scene, was a launch title for VIZ’s Shojo Beat magazine in 2005, and in 2023 VIZ’s Kevin Hamric attributed its recent popularity to Tik Tok (see “ICv2 Interview”), although the anime probably helps as well.  VIZ also published Yazawa’s earlier series Last Quarter in 2024-5 (see “VIZ Announcements”).

Kamudo is a new original fantasy title by Akira Himekawa, the two-woman team responsible for the Legend of Zelda and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess manga (see “‘The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’”).  Kamudo is the story of the first human born into a fantasy world inhabited by demi-beings who have both dragon and human characteristics; Kamuna, the boy, has the body of a human but the left hand of a dragon.  The series is currently available digitally, and the first volume will go on sale on October 7, 2025, with an MSRP of $14.99.
