Valentine's Day week brought in some fresh showbiz news, and it is time for another round-up!

Marvel Studio's Captain America: Brave New World (see "'Captain America 4' Trailer") topped the box office this weekend, according to Deadline.  At a projected $87 million 3-day weekend total, it squeaked by animated features Paddington in Peru ($12.6 million) and Dog Man ($9.6 million).  However, the movie's break-even number has been estimated around $425 million global box office, which may be a rough ride as Captain America's popularity tends to lose steam outside of the United States (much like American Western movies).

Netflix is making a run at developing a new Dungeons & Dragons live action series, according to Variety.  This series revolves around The Forgotten Realms campaign setting (see "'Dungeons & Dragons'"), and Drew Crevello, who was attached to a previous Dungeons & Dragons live action project for Paramount+ (see "'Dungeons & Dragons' Series Cancelled"), will be writer, executive producer, and showrunner for this series at Netflix.

Prime Video has renewed The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power for season 3, according to The Hollywood ReporterRings of Power wrapped up its second season run in Fall 2024 (see "'LotR: The Rings of Power' S2") with an episode featuring an epic duel between Sauron and Galadriel.  Season 3 will take place at the height of the war between Sauron and the elves.

Amazon MGM Studios has cast Morena Baccarin as Sorceress in their new Masters of the Universe movie, according to Deadline.  Baccarin is best known to Marvel fans as Vanessa in the Deadpool movies (see "'Deadpool'").  She joins an already star-studded cast including Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, and Jared Leto as Skeletor (see "Skeletor in 'MotU'").

Marvel Studios released a Thunderbolts trailer (see below).  This movie stars Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman, and is headed to theaters in May 2025 (see "Best in Shows -- 2025").

AnimEigo will release The Anime Business onto its YouTube channel in the next few weeks.  This series features interviews with the movers and shakers that helped make anime what it is today in the English-speaking world.  The first trailer shows interviews with Robert Napton of US Renditions and John O'Donnell of Central Park Media (see trailer below).
