A new burst of showbiz news has hit the wire, and it's time for a round-up!

Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars trilogy, according to Variety.  The new trilogy will take place post-Skywalker Saga (see "'Geek' Movies Dominated in 2019").  It will be developed by Simon Kinberg, of X-Men movie series fame (see "'X-Men: Dark Phoenix'"), under studio head Kathleen Kennedy.

Marvel Studios released a new trailer and poster for Captain America: Brave New World (see below).  The movie stars Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, and will head to theaters on February 14, 2025 (see "Movie Calendar 2025").

Toho has greenlit a new Godzilla movie to be directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who wrote, directed, and oversaw VFX for Godzilla Minus One (see "'Godzilla Minus One' Trailers"), according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Godzilla Minus One was very well received in the U.S., where it went through multiple theatrical releases.  It was not made clear as to whether or not this next Godzilla movie will be a direct sequel to Godzilla Minus One.

Marvel Studios also revealed footage of Thunderbolts at D23 Brazil (see below).  This movie, starring Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman, is headed to theaters in May 2025 (see "Best in Shows -- 2025").

Amazon MGM Studios will adapt the Mass Effect video game for a TV series, according to an exclusive story from Variety.  They have tapped Daniel Casey to write and executive produce the show alongside executive producer Karim Zreik from Cedar Tree Productions. Asmodee and Modiphius Entertainment recently released a Mass Effect board game by Eric M. Lang into retail (see "'Mass Effect: The Board Game - Priority Hagalaz'").

AMC released a new teaser for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 (see below).  Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride return a Daryl and Carol (see "'TWD' 'Carol'") exclusively on AMC and AMC+ in 2025.
