Todd McFarlane Productions is launching a new Spawn series, The Curse of Sherlee Johnson, which picks up the story of a seven-year-old girl who was murdered by a serial killer in Spawn #5. Image Comics will launch the new series, by writer Daniel Henriques and artist Jonathan Glapion, on May 21, 2025, with a 48-page first issue that will have a main cover by Glapion and a variant by McFarlane, and they will also reprint Spawn #5, which was first released in 1992.
The standalone series, which will be accessible to new as well as longtime readers, follows Johnson’s afterlife, as she is reborn with mysterious powers but must also grapple with the circumstances of her death, with the mysterious Stranger at her side.
"Growing up with Spawn, I always felt there was more to Sherlee Johnson’s story," Henriques said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "As I started pulling on the threads left behind, her journey just exploded beyond even my own expectations."
McFarlane announced two new titles, Medieval Spawn and Black Ritual: The Book of Nyx, in January ( see "Todd McFarlane Productions Adds Two New Titles to Spawn Universe").
