Here are some highlights from Abrams’ Fall 2025 catalog.

The Avengers in the Veracity Trap, by Chip Kidd and Michael Cho: This is an old-fashioned comic adventure with a meta twist. It starts with Loki rounding up an army of monsters and the Avengers heading into battle to defeat them. When the fighting is over, though, the story keeps going as the characters wrestle with a different enemy: The truth. Action-packed, humor-filled, and wrapped around a riddle, this graphic novel is both an Avengers story and a story about the Avengers, an homage in the same spirit as Alex Ross’s Fantastic Four: Full Circle (see “Expanded Edition of Alex Ross’s ‘Fantastic Four: Full Circle’”). (Jacketed hardcover; August 2025; $25.99)

Photographic Memory, by Bill Griffith: Griffith talked about his great-grandfather (and namesake), photographer William Henry Jackson, in Invisible Ink (see “Bill Griffith’s First OGN”). Now he turns his full attention on his ancestor, who traveled through the American Southwest and documented what he saw in photographs that inspired Ansel Adams and other artists and helped spur the creation of the national parks. As in his other books, Griffith uses primary sources, including family letters and diaries, as well as archival information to piece together a portrait of his subject. (Jacketed hardcover; October 2025; $35.00)

Middle Passage, by Charles Johnson, adapted by Reginald Hudlin, with art by Denys Cowan, and Don Hudson: Johnson’s National Book Award-winning novel about a freed slave who stows away on a ship to avoid debt and an unwanted marriage, only to find himself among slave-hunters who are determined to capture a mystical tribe. Hudlin is an accomplished writer and director, while Cowan was one of the founders of Milestone Media and Hudson is a veteran artist; Bitter Root writer David Walker contributes an introduction. Abrams is releasing this book under its Megascope imprint. (Jacketed hardcover; January 2026; $25.99)

My Life in 24 Frames per Second, by Rintaro: Rintaro may not be a household name in America, but his work certainly is; he worked at Osamu Tezuka’s Mushi Production, where he directed Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion, then returned to Toei, where he started his career, to direct Space Pirate Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express 999. My Life in 24 Frames per Second is his autobiography in manga form, from his early years in postwar Japan to the release of his most recent feature film, 2001’s Metropolis (see “Tezuka’s Metropolis and More”). Abrams is releasing this title under its Kana imprint. (Hardcover, paper over board; October 2025; $29.99)

This Place Kills Me, by Mariko Tamaki and Nicole Goux: When Elizabeth Woodward, the star of the Wilberton Theatrical Society’s upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet turns up dead, the students at the elite prep school have a mystery on their hands. The police deem it a suicide, but transfer student Abby Kita isn’t so sure, and she does some investigation of her own, uncovering Elizabeth’s secrets along the way. The story is told in a mixed-media format, with comics, letters, diaries, and news clippings and is rated for ages 14-18. (Jacketed hardcover, $26.99; paperback, $19.99; August 2025)
