Capstone Games will be releasing Pirates of Maracaibo: Commanders later this month, in partnership with Game’s Up.
Designed by the creators of 2023’s Pirates of Maracaibo, Ralph Bienert, Ryan Hendrickson, and Alexander Pfister, the Commanders expansion introduces ship commanders with special abilities to the game, giving players more tactical options. Meanwhile, players can equip cannons on their ships that they can use to break into fortifications on some islands in search of treasures. Rounding out the expansion are new explorer boards with new combinations and cards as well as opportunities to trade rum for profit.
Pirates of Maracaibo: Commanders comes with two double-sided exploration boards, 12 commander boards, 40 cards, 25 tiles, 15 rum tokens, 25 cannon tokens, and a neutral explorer pawn. As an expansion, a copy of the base game is needed to play. Supports games with one to four players, with games taking a little under two hours to play. MSRP is $34.95.
