Black Cat is back, and she’s putting her wicked ways behind her, sort of, in a new ongoing solo series by writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Gleb Melnikov. Black Cat follows immediately after the events of Amazing Spider-Man #8-9, with Felicia Hardy deciding to transition from villain to superhero in the aftermath of a brutal battle. But everyone’s got an angle, and it’s not at all clear that Black Cat intends to walk the straight and narrow forever. The first issue will be published on August 20, 2025, with a main cover by Adam Hughes and variants by Jeehyung Lee, Peach Momoko, and Simone Di Meo.

Wilson penned a Black Cat story in Spiderman: Black Suit & Blood #4, released in November 2024. “Black Cat is so much fun to work with,” she said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “She's a supporting character with main character energy. And she has such a rich history that there are tons of tantalizing story threads to pull on.”

“Black leather, street-level fights, and the chance to draw our favorite usual suspects from Spidey's rogues gallery? Sign me up!” added Melnikov.

Felicia teamed up with Mary Jane Watson for the 2024 Jackpot and Black Cat miniseries (see “‘Jackpot and Black Cat’”).
