As we head into summer, studios are rescheduling movies and making other announcements, and we round them up here.

Lilo & Stitch, the live action/hybrid remake of the 2002 Disney animated film (see "’Lilo & Stitch’ Trailer"), set a new record for Memorial Day Weekend, grossing $183 million domestically and $341.7 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.  Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, the second-biggest film for the weekend, set a new record for the franchise with a $77.5 million domestic open and $191 million worldwide. When final numbers are tallied, it's likely that the total gross for the weekend will make this the biggest Memorial Day weekend box office of all time.

Marvel is slowing its film release schedule, pushing back release dates for its 2026 and 2027 Avengers films and removing several un-named Marvel features from the schedule, according to
Variety.  Both of the Avengers films, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, were originally scheduled for release on the first weekend in May, and are now being moved to December.  Doomsday is moving from May 1, 2026 to December 18, 2026 (see "Movie Calendar – 2026"); and Secret Wars is moving from May 7, 2027 to December 17, 2027.  An untitled Marvel feature scheduled for February 13, 2026 has been taken off the schedule; and untitled Marvel films dated November 6, 2026 and November 5, 2027, are now being reserved for untitled Disney films.

Paramount is delaying the release of two upcoming animated features due to production delays, according to
The Hollywood Reporter.  The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender has been moved from January 30, 2026 to October 9, 2026; this is the second move for the film, which was originally scheduled for October 2025 (see "’Aang’ Delayed").  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2, which was greenlit way back in 2023 before the release of the first movie in the series (see "’Mutant Mayhem’ Sequel"), is being delayed from October 9, 2026 to September 17, 2027.

Cartoon Network and Max have greenlit a second 10-episode season of
Iyanu and two feature-length films, the producers announced.  The Age of Wonders, the first of the two features, is set 500 years before Iyanu's rise.  It will be released later in 2025. The first season of the Lion Forge Entertainment series, adapted from a series of graphic novels by Roye Okupe, debuted on Cartoon Network in April and streams on Max.

S&P Global has cut Warner Bros. Discovery
's bond rating to BB+, which is junk bond territory, based on concerns about declines in the company's legacy TV business, the ratings agency announced.  While the ratios that describe the company's leverage are expected to improve, they will remain above the levels needed for higher ratings.  The ratings agency noted that it is not factoring a potential split of the company, one option reportedly under consideration to free the better-performing divisions from the weight of the linear television business.

'Brien, who's having a moment, will voice the role of Smarty Pants in Pixar’s Toy Story 5, according to
