New publisher Manga Mavericks has announced its inaugural line of three manga titles, all of which will be released on July 16. The publisher, which grew out of the podcast of the same name, will market its titles digitally via Amazon, Google Play, iBooks, Kobo, and Nook and in print via its webstore. However, the website states that they are looking for comic shops and bookstores to carry their line and encourages retailers to contact them directly.

Here's a look at the three new titles.

Bonds is by the singly named artist Zenzo, who studied under Beyblade: Metal Fusion creator Takafumi Adachi. The story is an alternate version of the classic Journey to the West and won both the Japan Representative Selection and Candidate Award in the Featured Manga category for the 2019 Goku Cup manga contest. The 36-page first volume will have an MSRP of $11.99.

Alternative [Self Liner Note], by Chiaki Yagura, is a 40-page one-shot about a girl who questions her own worth as a musician. At 28, she has yet to make her mark on the world, although most musicians, including her idol have done so by the age of 27. This book was first released at the doujinshi (self-published comic) festival Comitia in 2019.

Zigoku’s Foreman, by 9banta, is an action isekai tale about a human who is reincarnated as a demon and runs a hellish construction crew with the help of his magic sword and super strength. 9banta originally self-published the series, and it was picked up for digital release by the Japanese publisher COMPASS Comics.

All three manga are rated 13+.
