While no other information was available from Yen Press, the Amazon listing indicates that the first volume will be released on December 16, 2025, with a 16+ rating and that this will be a new translation by Kevin Gifford.
The story is based on Takami’s novel of the same name and depicts a class of 42 junior high school students who are forced to fight each other to the death. The series was originally published by Tokyopop as 15 single volumes, beginning in 2003 (see “Tokyopop’s Battle Royale Manga”), and then as 5 three-in-one omnibus volumes starting in 2007. Tokyopop’s English edition was translated by Tomo Iwo and adapted by Keith Giffen, and the adaptation raised controversy because it changed the story. The novel was also adapted into a film, also called Battle Royale, and VIZ Media is publishing Battle Royale II: Blitz Royale, which is based on the sequel to that film, Battle Royale II: Requiem.
