December will bring an ending and a beginning for the Ultimate universe as Marvel Comics brings its best-selling Ultimate Spider-Man to an end with issue #24 and kicks off a five-issue event series, Ultimate Endgame, which will bring the Ultimate characters together for the first time for a face-off with The Maker.
Ultimate Spider-Man #24, by Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto, will wrap up the Ultimate Spider-Man saga with a series of developments that will lay the groundwork for future storylines. The final issue will be released on December 24, 2025, with a main cover by Checchetto.
A week later, Marvel will launch Ultimate Endgame, by writer Deniz Camp and artist Jonas Scharf, in which The Maker is released from his two-year captivity and faces the Ultmate characters in a conflict that will determine the future of the universe. Ultimate Endgame #1 will drop on December 31, 2025, with a main cover by Mark Brooks and a foil variant by Derrick Chew.
Since it was relaunched in 2023 (see “Hickman and Hitch Revive Ultimate Universe in ‘Ultimate Invasion’”), the Ultimates line has been among the top sellers in the direct market (see “Top Dollar Comics and Graphic Novels, Spring 2025”).
