ICv2 has learned that Dark Horse is publishing an English language version of the first Vampire Hunter D novel written by Hideyuki Kikuchi.  The first of 13 novels in the influential science fiction/horror series, originally published in Japan in 1983, will feature a painted cover and eight interior black-and-white illustrations by the celebrated artist Yoshitaka Amano, best known for his illustrations in Neil Gaiman's Sandman: The Dream Hunters and for the Final Fantasy games.

Set in 12,090 A.D. with humanity struggling after 300 years of domination by a race of vampires known as the Nobility, Vampire Hunter D presents a truly frightening world, which has inspired a popular anime series and is recommended for mature readers only.
