While most often associated with the Lord of the Rings films, Peter Jackson has frequently said that seeing the original KING KONG movie as a youngster inspired him to pursue a film career. For his adaptation of KING KONG,
Universal Studios is dedicating unprecedented marketing, licensing and promotional support to KING KONG, which opens in theaters on December 14. The first trailer was seen at the end of June, in conjunction with the release of War of the Worlds.
Topps plans an ambitious card program for KING KONG, worthy of the grand scale of the movie. 'The chance to be a part of a milestone cultural event this big rarely comes around,' says Topps' Friedman. 'We're creating fun, collectible cards to appeal to KONG fans and collectors of every age.' The Topps movie tie-in cards will appear on retail counters in advance of KING KONG's theatrical debut.
