Paramount Home Video will release Beauty & the Beast Season One ($49.99) on February 13th, 2007 (the day before Valentine's Day).  The six-disk collection will include all 22 episodes from the first season of the cult-hit fantasy series that starred Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Linda Hamilton (Terminator 2).  The updated version of the fairy tale had man/beast hybrid Vincent (Perlman) living in an underground world beneath the streets of New York and then falling for assistant District Attorney Catherine Chandler (Hamilton).  The series was a major hit with fantasy fans, especially females who overlooked Vincent's furry leonine appearance in favor of his gentle and caring personality.

If Paramount holds to its announced price, it could well have a hit on its hands because six disks and 1,071 minutes for an MSRP of $49.99 is a solid deal and further demonstration of the downward pressure on prices in the increasingly competitive TV on DVD category.
