Jim Schifeling of Acme Comics in Normal, Illinois saw the comment from Mike Pascuzzi at Media Blasters (see 'Mike Pascuzzi of Media Blasters on Anime Competition') and pushed back:

A bit of 'praise' about service is supposed to make me feel better about getting the short end of the anime stick?  Sharp specialty retailers have quit selling anime, and will let Best Buy and Wal-Mart glut the market with product so it becomes boring and homogenized (like it is right now), and bring everyone's profit margin down as they ask for increased discount points and fight for market share.  I don't need the hassle of spending $20 on a wholesale DVD to make $5 back.  The anime market will shrink and they will WISH we still cared and they will wish we were showing potential buyers the hot new series.  Specialty retailers found and pushed this stuff on customers since the late 80s; we laid out the groundwork and we get nothing in return.  Guess what, I'm taking my money back and I won't be around when you need me later.
