Volume 1 of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, from Kodansha Comics, debuts on the chart at number 18. This manga is based on an animated cartoon, and a new movie featuring the characters just began streaming on Netflix (see "Kodansha Licenses ‘Ladybug & Cat Noir’"). Librarians and others have been asking for kid-friendly manga such as this one (which is rated 10+), and its presence in the Top 20 reflects that demand. (For purposes of these charts, ICv2 classifies all manga as Adult.)
Volume 20 of Jujutsu Kaisen debuts in the top spot, with three more volumes down below. Interestingly, the top title a year ago was Volume 17 (see "August 2022 NPD BookScan"). The other big debut is Volume 7 of Solo Leveling, at number 4. In between are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, a regular presence on the chart since its release in July 2022, and Volume 103 of One Piece, on the chart for the second month in a row.
Three other titles, Soichi: Junji Ito Story Collection, Volume 7 of Kaiju No. 8, and Volume 18 of Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun, return for a second month on the chart, and two newer one-shots, Spider-Man: Fake Red and Goodbye, Eri, are back for the third month in a row.
